"The presence and grace of the Guru is felt even miles away; it only calls for श्रद्धा (faith) and भक्ति (devotion)."
This was my second time at Rikhiapeeth, and once again, I find myself in awe. Words seem insufficient to capture the depth of this experience, but here’s my humble attempt.
Kriya Yoga: Action and Energy in Motion
During this visit, I attended the Kriya Yoga course, which was both intense and transformative. Kriya means “action”, and Kriya Yoga at Rikhiapeeth sets in motion the energy patterns within the mind, breath, and body.
Key highlights from the Kriya Yoga course:
Activates energy alignment across mind, breath, and body.
Encourages mindfulness and detachment through Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses).
Develops inner awareness by observing thoughts and emotions without involvement.
Our teacher reminded us to stay with the experience and witness the patterns instead of becoming entangled in them. This practice of observing without judgment was a powerful takeaway.
Ashram Life: A Perfect Blend of Yogic Practices
Living in an ashram is an opportunity to:
Align with nature and experience simple living.
Cultivate seva (selfless service), such as cooking or cleaning.
Immerse in kirtans and mantras to nurture devotion and inner peace.
Experience Bhakti (devotion), Karma (action), Jnana (knowledge), and Raja Yoga together.
Mantras: Scientific and Transformative Power
Mantras are more than just spiritual chants—they are:
Scientific syllables arranged to create specific vibrational patterns.
Universal and non-religious, suitable to chant anywhere.
Tools for spreading positivity and mindfulness when practiced with awareness.
The kirtans performed in the ashram uplift the spirit, helping us stay centered and connected to the present moment. The blessings (prasad) we receive come in various forms, always leaving us feeling humbled.
Life Lessons from Ashram Living
Ashram life may be simple, but it is filled with profound lessons:
Answers come naturally when we are open to receiving them.
It teaches us discipline, patience, and faith (shraddha).
The experience softens personality traits, helping us become more balanced.
The Bihar School of Yoga, known as the First Global Yoga Academy, attracts spiritual seekers from all over the world, offering wisdom beyond sects or traditions.
Awaiting the Next Call for Self-Discovery
Even though I have returned home, the presence and grace of the Guru remain within me, guiding my thoughts and actions. I look forward to the next opportunity to immerse myself in the teachings of Rikhiapeeth.
Until then, I carry these lessons into my daily life, knowing that simplicity, humility, and devotion are the keys to inner growth.
May the new year bring:
Opportunities for self-discovery
Inner growth and happiness
Moments of peace and mindfulness
With love,
Jai Gurudev
